The best time and method to plant garlic and which month is the best for sowing

Garlic planting time

The time for planting garlic is different in each place. For example, in areas where the temperature is too low in winter, garlic will not be planted in autumn. Generally, spring sowing is adopted, and the sowing time is usually in April. In areas with relatively high temperatures, sowing is generally carried out in August in autumn, so farmers must plant according to local conditions.

Garlic growth cycle

Usually we divide the growth process of garlic into 6 stages: germination, seedling, bulb bud and flower bud differentiation, garlic shoot elongation, bulb expansion and dormancy. Each stage plays an important role. It takes about 3-4 months from the initial sowing to the final harvest. The maintenance conditions during this period determine the quality of the final garlic output.

Methods and steps for growing garlic

1. Soil selection

Garlic sprouts are very tolerant of soil quality, and the most common garden soil will do. When planting, you can add some manure to ensure adequate nutrition for the garlic sprouts.

2. Planting method

Planting potted garlic seedlings is very simple. Peel off the outer layer of old skin of garlic cloves and insert them vertically into the soil one by one, with half inserted and half exposed. Water them every day to keep the soil moist and wait for them to germinate.
