Chicory planting method and time When is the best time to plant it?

The best time to plant chicory

The time for planting chicory can be from March to May or from August to October each year, which can basically meet the germination conditions of chicory seeds.

In addition, chicory is a herb with very strong cold and drought resistance. Chicory has super adaptability to the environment and can grow healthily and independently even in a poor environment.

Chicory planting methods and key points

1. Land preparation and fertilization

Chicory does not have high requirements for soil and can grow in either clay or loam, but it will grow better in acidic soil. When preparing the land, scientific land preparation should be carried out according to the characteristics of chicory. Farmyard manure should be evenly spread as base fertilizer, and the soil should be turned over again, and the land should be raked flat before planting.

2. Sow seeds at the right time

Before planting, the seeds need to be dried in a cool and well-ventilated place. After two days, soak them in cold water. After the seeds are soaked, take them out and drain the water before sowing. Generally, sowing is carried out from June to August each year. Row sowing is most commonly used, which is simpler and easier to manage.

Key points for daily management of chicory

The main focus should be on preventing rot. First, you should choose seeds that are free of pests and diseases or have high disease resistance. Then before planting, you need to use carbendazim to mix the seeds and disinfect them.

In addition, we must control the sowing time, strengthen management, apply fertilizer reasonably, provide shade in the summer, ensure drainage in the rainy season, and remove diseased plants in a timely manner if found.
