Sugarcane planting and harvesting time

Sugarcane planting time

Generally speaking, sugarcane is planted around February to April. It can be planted in spring or autumn as needed. In spring, it should not be planted later than April at the latest. In autumn, it can be planted in August to September. It should not be too early or too late. It is best to start planting from late August.

Sugarcane harvest time

Sugarcane generally matures around October and has a long harvesting period, which can last until March or April of the following year. Nowadays, greenhouse cultivation technology is very advanced and can control the temperature and humidity of plant growth, so fresh sugarcane can be eaten at any time.

Key points for high-yield sugarcane planting

1. Select sugarcane buds: Sugarcane is mainly grown with sugarcane buds. Select those with many tail buds and strong growth, which are more cold-resistant and can germinate faster.

2. Land selection: Choose a loose, breathable and well-drained land. You can plow the land first and apply sufficient organic fertilizer to the soil so that it can grow better with sufficient nutrients.

3. Planting sugarcane sprouts: After the soil is prepared, you can directly plant the sugarcane sprouts. Be careful not to cover the soil too thickly, and ensure that it has enough light, so that new sprouts and new roots can grow soon.

4. Post-management: Management after planting is very important. Fertilization should be done in time, and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers should be applied in appropriate amounts. It is best to do it together with watering to dilute the fertilizer as quickly as possible so that it will be easier to absorb. When the sugarcane sprouts grow to about one meter, fertilizer can be applied once every half a month, and sufficient water must be ensured. In this way, the growth will be fast and vigorous.
