Time and method of cutting of Euphorbia pilosa

Euphorbia cutting time

When taking cuttings of Euphorbia milii, you should choose to do it when it is growing vigorously. Generally, spring and autumn are more suitable. Usually, the best time for cuttings is April to June in spring. The survival rate after reproduction is very high. The survival rate in autumn is lower than that in spring.

How to take cuttings of Euphorbia pilosa

1. Matrix selection

The cutting medium for Euphorbia milii should be loose, fertile, nutritious, well-ventilated and well-drained soil. You can use river sand, peat soil, etc., or you can mix vermiculite and perlite. You can also directly buy professional culture soil. Before cutting, the soil should be placed in the sun to dry for disinfection.

2. Prepare cuttings

Select branches from the mother plant that are well-growing, strong, and free of diseases and insect pests, about 6-10 cm in length, and retain 3-4 leaf nodes on the stem segment. Then wash them clean, place them in a ventilated place to dry, dip the prepared branches in rooting agent, and then insert them into the prepared soil.

Maintenance of Euphorbia pilosa after cutting

After the Euphorbia milii cuttings are completed, water the soil thoroughly to keep the substrate moist, and place the pot in a cool and ventilated place to wait for it to adapt to the environment. It will take about a month to take root, and then it can be transplanted.
