Sticky corn planting time and method

Sticky corn planting time

Different varieties of sticky corn have different planting times in different planting areas. Generally speaking, it can be planted all year round. The best planting time is spring and autumn. If planted in winter, you need to take warming measures in advance to avoid frostbite.

How to plant sticky corn

1. Site selection

Sticky corn has a wide adaptability to soil, but it is best to provide loose, deep, organic-rich black calcium soil, chestnut calcium soil and sandy loam, and it can be planted in a pH range of 6-8.

2. Seed selection

When planting sticky corn, you must first choose the right variety. According to the actual conditions in each place, you should choose seeds with high purity, high germination rate, and strong fertility. The seeds should also have strong lodging resistance and good disease resistance. After cleaning and soaking, they can be planted in the soil.

3. Planting seeds

You can directly make holes for sowing, dig holes in the ground, then apply fertilizer and sow. The row spacing is 65 cm, the plant spacing is 18 cm, and the sowing depth is 5 cm. You can water it thoroughly after sowing. When the seeds have 5 leaves, transplant them. Pull out weak, diseased, and out-of-plant seedlings in time, and keep the healthy seedlings.

Matters Needing Attention in Planting Sticky Corn

After the sticky corn seedlings emerge from the soil, weeding should be done well. Do not till the soil before and after flowering, as this can easily damage the rhizomes. In addition, disease and pest control should be done well. Before sowing, special insect repellents and sterilization agents can be applied to the soil. In order to ensure that the soil will not deteriorate, the concentration must be diluted before use.
