The growth environment and conditions of Kapok

1. Temperature

Kapok flowers like to grow in places with plenty of sunshine. They can adapt to hot and humid climates but are not cold-resistant. The most suitable temperature is around 23 to 31 degrees Celsius. In normal years, they can safely spend the winter in the open field. However, in most areas in the north, they need to be moved into greenhouses or indoors to avoid the cold in winter.

2. Soil

Kapok flowers are not very demanding on the soil. They like to grow in slightly acidic sandy soil or clay. They are drought-resistant and moisture-resistant, and do not require much fertilizer. Generally, they prefer soils with relatively high levels of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. It is best to apply decomposed cake fertilizer when planting kapok flowers.
