How to care for hydroponic lucky bamboo in winter

Is hydroponic lucky bamboo afraid of freezing?

Water-cultured lucky bamboo is afraid of freezing. Its suitable growth temperature is between 20-28℃. In winter, you must pay attention to cold and frost prevention. When the temperature is below 10℃, the leaves will turn yellow and shrink. When the temperature drops to 2~3℃, the lucky bamboo may be frostbitten.

Winter maintenance method of hydroponic lucky bamboo

1. Location

In winter, the water-cultured lucky bamboo must be placed on the north side of the indoor balcony, which is close to the bedroom, and not near the south window.

2. Keep warm

In a room without heating, pay attention to heat preservation. It is best to place it where it can see sunlight. When the temperature drops at night, you can cover the flowerpot with a film bag without sealing it. Place the wrapped hydroponic lucky bamboo in the warmest place in the room.

3. Moisturizing

Pay attention to moisturizing in the heated room. Lucky bamboo likes a humid climate. The dry air in the room in winter is not conducive to the growth of lucky bamboo. The leaves are easy to turn yellow. It must be kept away from heating equipment. At night, you can spray water on the floor around the flower pot to increase the surrounding air humidity.

4. Change the water

When lucky bamboo is maintained in a warm place in winter, the water change time can be appropriately extended because the water evaporates more slowly at this time, but the water temperature must be kept consistent with the room temperature to prevent the plant from being frostbitten.

Precautions for hydroponic lucky bamboo cultivation in winter

1. Temperature: The suitable temperature for the growth of lucky bamboo is between 22-25℃. The room temperature during winter must be maintained above 10℃. Plants below 13℃ will enter a dormant state and stop growing.

2. Humidity: In winter, you should also spray water on the leaves of lucky bamboo appropriately, especially in dry weather, to prevent the branches and leaves of the plant from turning yellow and drying up, which can help it survive the winter better.

3. North : There is no need to worry too much about hydroponic lucky bamboo planted in the north in winter, because there is heating indoors and it can grow normally. Windows should be opened frequently for ventilation, but the plants should be prevented from being blown by cold winds.

4. Sunbathing : Hydroponic lucky bamboo can be exposed to the sun in due course in winter. On warm and windless days in winter, you can remove the wrapping of the hydroponic bottle and place the lucky bamboo in the sunniest place indoors to bask in the sun.
