Can Dendrobium be hydroponically cultivated?

Dendrobium can be grown in hydroponics. Both water and soil methods are acceptable for the plant, and both can be kept alive. Comparatively speaking, water cultivation is more convenient and easy to operate. As long as the plant is processed, it can be grown in hydroponics.

Dendrobium hydroponic cultivation methods and key points

1. Treat the plants

Before hydroponics, you should choose Dendrobium seedlings that have been domesticated for more than two years, carefully clean the soil on the plants, cut off all rotten roots, old roots, and diseased roots, and soak them in a carbendazim solution for disinfection.

2. Carry out hydroponics

It is best to choose a transparent hydroponic container with a bottleneck. Place the processed plants directly into the container, then add water to it. You can also add amino acids or enzymes appropriately. The amount used should not be too much, just use a small bottle cap each time.

Precautions for growing Dendrobium in water

1. When growing Dendrobium in water, its roots cannot be completely immersed in water. At least two-thirds of them should be exposed outside, and the environment should be well ventilated.

2. Water-grown stones need to have water changed regularly. In spring and autumn, the water can be changed every 7-10 days, and in winter, it can be changed every 15 days. In summer, the temperature is high and nutrients are consumed faster, so the water and nutrient solution need to be changed every 4-5 days.
