Can longan be grown hydroponically?

Longan, also known as laurel, is a plant of the genus Coriander in the Apiaceae family. It is a common fruit and medicinal material. The longan we eat is generally grown on trees and cultivated in the soil. Compared with the soil-cultivated longan, hydroponic longan is more labor-saving, time-saving and efficient.

Longan hydroponic cultivation methods and key points

1. Remove excess pulp from the longan core, and then wash the remaining pulp with clean water.

2. Because the core of longan is prone to necrosis, fresh and ripe cores are often cleaned and soaked in water for about a week.

3. After about a week, a crack will appear on the outer shell of the longan seed, showing a tendency to sprout.

4. Place the longan core in a container filled with perlite medium and nutrient solution, cover the surface with a layer of finer particles, and fill the bottom of the container with water to a certain depth.

5. Place it in a quiet environment and wait for germination.

Precautions for growing longan in water

1. When growing longan in water, usually choose fresh and mature seeds, and sow them in time to increase the germination rate.

2. Longan seeds are very fragile. If the environment is slightly unsuitable, they will easily lose their germination ability, especially seeds that have been stored for too long are less likely to germinate.

3. The requirements for hydroponics of longan are often higher, and it is not easy to keep it alive even if you pay attention to every aspect.
