Cutting method of purple seal

Cutting method of purple seal

Cutting time

The best time is now in spring, before May . As the temperature rises, the failure rate of cuttings will also increase. Even if they manage to take root, the fragile seedlings will find it difficult to survive the hot summer. So the sooner breeding is completed, the better.

Selection of substrate for cuttings

There are many kinds of cutting media, there is no hard and fast rule, it all depends on personal preference. River sand, vermiculite, various powdered planting material mixtures, coal slag, seedling blocks, etc. can all be used for plant cuttings. The requirements are that the particles are fine, the temperature changes are small, it locks in moisture, has good air permeability, and is not conducive to bacterial reproduction.

Cutting container selection

The container for cuttings generally uses a "three-piece seedling box set", removing the "hole tray" in the middle and using the "box bottom" and "box lid". This way, the space utilization rate is relatively large and the location for cuttings can be selected at will.

Cutting steps

Cuttings

Cut the fat leaves in advance as cutting materials, disinfect the cuts of the leaves, and place them in a cool place for a week before cutting.

Spread the prepared flower soil all over the container and spray a thin layer of carbendazim or other fungicide on the surface.

Insert the prepared leaves into the soil, cover it with the lid directly without watering. Basically, open the lid to ventilate the box once a day or two, and the ventilation time is three to five minutes. If there is no mist on the lid, you can spray a small amount of water to increase the humidity. If there is a tendency for mold and rot in the box, spray it with fungicide again, or take out the plant, rinse it and put it back in.

Basin

After about a week, the plant will take root and can be potted. After rooting, transplant it immediately into planting material with sufficient nutrients and carry out normal maintenance. In order for the seedlings to develop well, they need sufficient nutrients and water, and a relatively moist soil environment, otherwise the new roots will die.
