Gerbera seeds sowing time

The sowing time of gerbera determines the survival rate, so you must choose a good time. Usually, spring and autumn are the best time for sowing. The seeds are easy to germinate and increase the chance of survival. If sowing in spring, you can choose February to May, and if sowing in autumn, you can plant it in October to November.

Gerbera seed planting method and steps

1. Soaking and selecting seeds

Before sowing gerbera, select plump, disease-free seeds and soak them in clean water for 3 hours. This can shorten the dormancy period of the seeds and speed up germination. Afterwards, soak them in an appropriate amount of potassium permanganate solution to disinfect and sterilize them. They can be planted after soaking for half an hour.

2. Soil selection

To cultivate gerbera, you can use leaf mold, peat and perlite in a ratio of 5:3:3. The prepared soil contains more nutrients and has a higher looseness, which is conducive to the growth of gerbera. After the soil is prepared, it can be exposed to the sun and disinfected.

3. Seeding process

Sow the seeds of gerbera into the soil and cover them with a thin layer of soil about 1 cm thick. If the soil is relatively moist, there is no need to water it, otherwise it needs to be watered thoroughly. Then place it in a cool and ventilated environment for maintenance, and the seeds will germinate in a week.
