How to grow Oxalis to make it bloom

Oxalis flowering time

Oxalis blooms from February to September, so it will continue to bloom from spring to autumn. However, in summer, you must pay attention to shade and not expose it to strong light. Not only does it bloom for a long time, but it also has a high ornamental value when it blooms. Oxalis is widely distributed in my country, and it is very suitable for both ground planting and potted planting.

How to grow and make Oxalis bloom

1. Adequate lighting

Oxalis is a sun-loving plant. It needs to be provided with sufficient light and maintained in a sunny place. It should be noted that it is not resistant to strong light exposure, so it needs to be properly shaded in summer, or placed in a semi-shaded environment to avoid direct light burning the leaves.

2. Fertile soil

Oxalis is not very demanding on soil and can grow in many places, but if you want it to grow more luxuriantly, it is best to provide sandy loam rich in humus. If you prepare it yourself, you can use garden soil with an appropriate amount of river sand, which can provide a certain degree of drainage. At the same time, you should use organic fertilizer as base fertilizer to supplement nutrients for its growth.

3. Control watering

Oxalis likes a humid climate, but is not tolerant to waterlogging. Therefore, you need to control the amount of water when watering it. Usually, sprinkler irrigation is used, and large amounts of water should not be used. Otherwise, water accumulation will easily occur, affecting the breathing of the roots. In this case, excess water needs to be drained out and ventilation should be done to accelerate the evaporation of water.

4. Disease prevention and weed control

Because Oxalis grows fast and the ventilation and light transmittance at the bottom are relatively poor, disease prevention work needs to be done. In the hot season, triadimefon should be sprayed to prevent powdery mildew. In addition, if there are weeds, they can be removed in time to avoid competing for nutrients, which is not conducive to the development of the plant.
