When is the best time to repot Begonia

Begonia repotting time

Begonias grow in pots for many years, and their roots will be distributed extremely densely in the soil. At the same time, the nutrients in the soil are absorbed by the plants, and the soil becomes severely compacted. After repotting, the soil will become more fertile and softer. Newly purchased begonias do not need to be repotted.

It is suitable to repot crabapples in spring and autumn. The temperature is relatively stable at this time, and there is no intense light or cold air intrusion, which is conducive to the plants adapting to the new soil environment, making the survival rate of the plants higher and laying the foundation for the continued growth of crabapples.

Methods and steps for repotting Begonia

1. Treatment before repotting

Before repotting the crabapple plant, you can pat the sides of the pot to separate the soil and the roots as much as possible. At least the taproot should not be attached to the compacted soil. Then you can pour a small amount of water in as lubrication and move the plant out.

2. Prepare the flower pot

When choosing a flowerpot for crabapple, it is best to choose a natural material. A clay pot is a good choice. It is hydrophobic and breathable, and can regulate the dryness and wetness of the soil.

3. Choose soil matrix

Begonia is suitable for growing in a loose and well-drained environment. During the preparation process, you can try to use peat soil and newly turned garden soil. If it is cultivated for many years, you can also apply an appropriate amount of humus to enhance fertility.

4. Basin operation

First, leave large gaps in the soil of the flowerpot, place the roots of the plant in it, then cover it with extremely soft loose soil, pour in a small amount of water, and promote the roots to adapt to the soil.
