Guava ripening time

Guava matures in October. If the environment is suitable, guava will bloom and bear fruit all year round, so the fruiting period is particularly long.

Guava fruit maintenance and management

1. Bag vegetables and fruits: When the guava fruit grows to 3 cm, remove some of the fruits with too many grains or those that are not growing well, leaving only 1-2 fruits on each main branch. Wrap the fruit with foam nets or plastic bags to prevent diseases and pests.

2. Prevention of pests and diseases: The main pests and diseases of guava include canker, damping-off, nematode disease, anthracnose, sooty mold, fruit rot, mealybugs, cotton aphids, peach fruit moth, whitefly, aphids and yellow thorn moth. Canker and damping-off can be prevented and controlled by applying Bordeaux paste to the wound.

3. Water management: Guava can bloom 7 to 10 times a year and can harvest 7 to 10 batches of fruit. It is necessary to maintain sufficient water supply and keep the soil moist in autumn and winter. It should be replenished every 7 to 10 days until one week before maturity and harvest. Drain the water in time during the rainy season to prevent water accumulation from causing fruit drop and reducing quality.

4. Fertilization : Guava can bloom and bear fruit all year round and bear fruit many times, consuming a lot of nutrients. Organic fertilizers should be applied in time. The ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be reasonable. Trace elements should also be supplemented. From the development of flower buds to the development of young fruits, foliar fertilizers can be applied, and boron and other trace elements should be supplemented in time. The application of potassium fertilizer should be strengthened during the middle fruit-bearing period. If the tree is weak, some nitrogen fertilizer can be applied.

5. Spraying : If you want to increase the fruit setting rate during the guava fruiting period, you must supplement phosphorus, potassium, calcium, zinc and boron in time to help the young fruits turn green faster, which can reduce the yellowing and falling of the fruits. Spraying micro-fruit supplements and micro-boron supplements on the leaves can provide key nutrients for the development of young fruits and keep the fruits green.
