Where is Angelica suitable for planting?

Where to plant angelica

Angelica is a high-altitude, long-day plant that requires long-day conditions and high and cold climate conditions. Therefore, it is most suitable for planting in the north or northwestern mountainous areas.

Currently, most of the angelica on the market are authentic, mainly produced in Minxian, Dangchang, Wudu, Zhangxian, Weiyuan, Wenxian and other places in Gansu Province, Weixi, Deqin, Zhongdian, Lanping and other counties in Yunnan Province, as well as Sichuan, Shaanxi, Hubei and other provinces. Among them, Minxian and Dangchang in Gansu have the highest output and the best quality, and are known as the "Hometown of Chinese Angelica".

Angelica planting conditions

Angelica is suitable for growing in areas with higher altitudes, so it is suitable for high and cold temperature conditions, and it is also sensitive to temperature. The best suitable growth temperature is between 20-24 degrees. Maintaining this temperature range during the seedling stage can allow it to quickly germinate.

Angelica has poor resistance to drought and waterlogging, which indicates that it has strict requirements on water conditions. A soil moisture content of around 25% is most suitable for Angelica's growth. Timely irrigation and drainage are one of the main means to obtain high yields at that time.

Key Points of Angelica Planting and Management

1. Soil requirements

Angelica is suitable for growing in areas with higher altitudes. Generally, the planting area is above 2,400 meters above sea level. If the altitude is too low, the yield of Angelica will be low, the quality will be poor, and it will also be easy to bolt prematurely. Sandy loam with deep soil, fertile and loose soil, good drainage and high humus content is suitable.

2. Fertilization requirements

When transplanting, adding fertilizer can promote the increase of production at that time. Generally, fertile black soil is selected for seedling cultivation, and a large amount of mountain ash fertilizer is applied as base fertilizer with nitrogen, phosphorus and inorganic fertilizers. Adding nitrogen fertilizer in the early stage of nutritional production and adding phosphorus and potassium fertilizer in the later stage can significantly increase the yield and quality of angelica.
