Okra belongs to the Malvaceae family. It is an annual plant. Its general scientific name is Okra. In rural areas, it is also called okra, Vietnamese sesame, okra, mashed sesame, kidney-tonifying vegetable, etc. It is an autumn vegetable and is generally available after September. Its producing areas include Hunan, Guangdong, Hubei and other regions.

What does okra look like

Okra is generally 1 to 2 meters tall. Its stem is cylindrical and it generally has relatively few leaves. Its branches are covered with soft hairs, which are generally 7 to 10 mm. Its flowering period is approximately from May to September.

How to cook okra

1. Okra with garlic sauce

First wash the okra and remove the stems. Then heat oil and add salt. Put the okra in and blanch it for two minutes, then take it out. Then add more oil and minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant. Then add soy sauce, sugar and a small amount of salt, stir-fry for a few minutes and pour it on the okra.

2. Blanched Okra

Wash the okra without cutting it, then boil water in a pot and add the okra. After 2 minutes, take it out and put it in cold water. Put oil, shredded ginger, light soy sauce and other seasonings in the pot, stir-fry for a few minutes, then pour it on the okra and it's done.
