How to change the soil for aloe vera

When to change the soil for aloe vera

The best soil for aloe potting is fertile, loose, well-drained sandy loam. You can also put some broken tiles at the bottom of the pot when changing the soil. Generally, soil that is too sticky and has poor air permeability is not suitable for planting. The time to replace the potting soil is in March to April in spring or September to November in autumn and winter. The indoor temperature is more suitable when it is 15 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Aloe vera can be repotted in summer, but be careful not to loosen the original soil because the temperature is high in this season. If the original soil is loosened, it will inevitably damage the root system. It is recommended to repot it in spring when the temperature and humidity are very suitable and the plant grows vigorously. After repotting, the plant can adapt to the new environment faster and resume growth.

When should aloe be transplanted?

Generally, it is better to transplant aloe vera in March or April in spring. When transplanting, you can directly break the plant off and plant it. It is best not to transplant it in winter, as it will affect its survival rate in the later period.

How to change soil and pot for aloe vera

1. Take out the plant: Before repotting the aloe vera, prepare a flower shovel, move it around the flower pot to loosen the soil, hold the edge of the flower pot with one hand, and take the aloe vera out of the pot with the other hand.

2. Proper pruning: After taking out the aloe vera, you need to trim off the rotten roots and some yellow leaves also need to be removed.

3. Prepare the soil: Aloe vera needs to change the soil after repotting. You can mix leaf mold, peat soil, coarse sand and base fertilizer.

4. Planting in pots: Prepare a slightly larger flower pot, fill it with soil, and then plant the aloe vera in it.

Aloe Vera soil replacement precautions

1. Aloe vera needs to be repotted after 1-2 years because the nutrients in the potting soil are not enough to support its growth, and the soil has begun to become compacted, so the soil needs to be replaced.

2. When planting aloe vera, you need to use breathable and fertile soil. Use seedlings with roots when planting. The seedlings must not be attacked by diseases and insects. Fill the soil and then dig a hole. Plant the seedlings in and cover them with soil. After planting, just give appropriate water.
