How many years does the yellow bark tree bear fruit?

Introduction to planting yellow bark trees

The yellow-bark tree likes a mild and humid environment. It is a shade-loving tree species and is suitable for growing in a place that is sheltered from the wind and slightly shaded. It is not resistant to strong sunlight exposure and is suitable for planting in spring from March to May. During the growth period, the soil must be kept moist, the soil must be loosened every year, and weeds must be removed in time.

The kumquat tree is endemic to Guizhou and is grown in very few places. It is mainly produced in Jiangkou Baxi, Guiting Yunwu Mountain, and Tongzi County Baiqing Nature Reserve in Guizhou Province.

The yellow bark tree has been planted for several years and has produced fruit

If the kumquat is properly maintained after planting, it will generally bear fruit in about three years. Its origin is in southern my country, such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and other places. It is a tropical and subtropical plant with high requirements for temperature, light and humidity. Therefore, if you want to plant a kumquat tree that bears fruit, you must ensure that the temperature is suitable, the light is sufficient, and the humidity is appropriate.

Grafted yellow bark tree blooms and bears fruit

The grafted kumquat seedlings planted this year will bloom and bear fruit next year or the year after. Potted kumquat trees usually bear fruit in 3 years.

Why doesn't the yellow bark tree bear fruit?

The main reason why the kumquat tree does not bear fruit is that too many fruits are left in the same year, and too much nutrients are consumed. Before harvesting the fruits, no fertilizer mainly composed of nitrogen but also phosphorus and potassium is applied. When the tree vigor has not returned to normal, flower buds are difficult to differentiate, resulting in poor quality of flowers and difficulty in bearing fruit the following year.

In addition, the amount of base fertilizer mainly composed of organic fertilizer applied in winter is not enough, and the organic matter accumulated in the plant body is too little, so the phenomenon of alternate bearing of the plant is more obvious, and it will also cause the kumquat tree to not bear fruit.

Key points for planting yellow bark trees

1. Growth conditions

Kumquat prefers a fertile, organically rich neutral soil environment. If planted in loess, it will cause poor growth over time. Kumquat does not have high temperature requirements and can generally grow normally above 15 degrees. Even if it is below 0 degrees, it will not freeze to death.

2. Variety selection

Any fruit tree has more than a dozen sub-varieties. Take kumquat for example. The most common ones are heart-shaped kumquat, seedless kumquat, sweet kumquat and black kumquat. Among them, black kumquat is one of the best varieties at present, because compared with other varieties, it is more resistant to rainy environments, which means that the fruit will not crack even on rainy days. This is one of its advantages.

3. Pest and disease management

Generally speaking, kumquats rarely have diseases and pests because kumquat trees do not need to be sprayed with pesticides. Even if there are diseases and pests, they are some green caterpillars or some white whiteflies. In serious cases, you can spray a little with cypermethrin.

4. Flowering period management

The flower spikes of the kumquat tree are particularly long and grow very vigorously. In order to ensure the balanced growth of nutrients for the fruit, the flowers must be thinned out when the flower spikes grow to 20 centimeters. Not only do longer flower spikes consume more nutrients, but most importantly, the fruit matures at different times. If they are sold, I'm afraid no one will be interested.

5. Harvesting management

The kumquat begins to bloom in March and gradually matures in late June. After picking, the branches need to be pruned properly, which is conducive to the growth of new shoots in summer and prepares for high-yield branches next year.
