Cultivation methods and precautions of water tower flower

Cultivation methods and precautions of water tower flower

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Soil with good air permeability, water-conserving and humus-containing properties is most suitable for growing water tower flowers. The soil that meets these conditions must be acidic sandy loam.

2. Water: The breeding environment should have higher humidity. It can also grow in slightly drier soil. The amount of water should not be too much. Just spray some water appropriately.

3. Nutrients: Organic liquid fertilizer can provide it with sufficient nutrients, and the applicable amount should be less. It does not require much fertilizer during its growth period. When applying fertilizer, avoid applying it to the roots, as this can easily cause root burns.

4. Light: It likes to grow in a mild, semi-shaded place and is afraid of strong light because direct light will cause damage to its branches and leaves and affect the normal growth of the plant.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: After planting for a period of time, the soil should be loosened and weeds should be removed. If the branches and leaves turn yellow or withered, they should be properly pruned, which will be more beneficial to its growth.

2. Reproduction: Reproduction should be carried out in spring and can be carried out by cuttings. Cut off sucker buds about ten centimeters long and plant them in prepared soil. When the temperature is around 25 to 28 degrees Celsius, small root buds will grow in about a month.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Root rot: The roots will turn black and rot, and no lateral roots will grow. It cannot absorb water and fertilizer, causing its growth to be slow. This can be solved by diluting aluminum phosphite with water and spraying it.

2. Spodoptera litura: This is the most common pest in cultivated water tower flowers. It feeds on its petals, hides in the soil during the day and comes out to forage at night. It can be removed by spraying the plants and soil with pyrethroids.

IV. Other issues

1. How to survive the winter: It is not cold-resistant, so it needs to be moved indoors for maintenance in winter, and placed in a warm, diffused light place in the house. The best temperature is around ten degrees Celsius, which can allow the plant to spend the winter smoothly without affecting its growth in the spring.

2. Whether it can be exposed to rain: Water tower flower cannot be exposed to rain. It has a certain degree of drought resistance and does not like overly moist soil. Being wetted by rain will affect its branches and leaves. It should be sheltered from rain in time on rainy days.
