How long is the growth cycle of a pear tree?

Introduction to Pear Tree Growth

Pear trees grow best in sandy loam with deep soil, good permeability and water retention. Western pears are planted in Yantai, Fushan and Muping. Hebei, Shandong and Liaoning provinces are the concentrated producing areas of Chinese pears.

Pear tree growth cycle

The growth and development patterns of pear trees in their life can be divided into three age periods, namely the sapling stage, the fruiting stage and the senescence stage. The sapling stage is the period from the planting of seedlings to the flowering and fruiting of pear trees. The fruiting stage is divided into the initial fruiting stage, the peak fruiting stage and the late fruiting stage. The senescence stage refers to the period from when the yield is significantly reduced to the end of the plant's life.

Pear tree growth rate

The period from the grafting of pear tree seedlings to the flowering and fruiting period is generally 2 to 5 years. The pear tree has a unique appearance, and it needs more water than other plants. The soil must be moist enough and the exposure to light should be longer.

Pear tree growth cycle management

If the pear trees are managed properly, the yield per mu during the peak fruit-bearing period is generally around 5,000 to 6,000 catties, and if maintained well, it can be as high as 8,000 catties.

Temperature management: Pear trees grow best in an environment of 14-20 degrees. The average temperature during the dormant period needs to be 5 to 17.2 degrees, and the temperature during the flowering period must be stable at above 10 degrees.

Fertilization management : Pear trees are fertilized with green manure, compost, stable manure, wood ash, wall soil, etc. Of course, chemical fertilizers, cake fertilizer, human feces and urine should also be applied when necessary.
