Methods of raising cicadas at home

The golden cicada , also known as the cicada monkey, is an insect with very high medicinal value. As the demand increases, it is artificially bred in many areas. Here are some methods to raise cicadas at home.

1. Prepare the container

Transparent plastic containers or glass containers can be used, and the size of the container should be determined according to needs and the number of fish to be cultured.

2. Place the container

Choose a well-ventilated location with suitable temperature indoors and place the container, being careful not to expose the cicada to direct sunlight.

3. Indoor incubation

Build a wooden bridge in the middle of the incubator. The most suitable layer height is generally 60 cm, and the cicada egg branches can be placed vertically. It is best to use a rectangular plastic basin with a length of 70 cm, a width of 40 cm and a height of 20 cm for the hatching basin. Of course, other shapes and specifications can also be used. Put fine dry sand at the bottom of the hatching basin, yellow sand is best. It is best to wash the sand with 3% to 5% potassium permanganate solution to sterilize it. Then take it out, dry it, and put it into the hatching basin. The thickness should be 5 to 10 cm. During the incubation process, you need to frequently check whether the egg branches are moldy. You can grab the sand in the incubation basin with your hands. If the sand can be squeezed into a ball, it means it is okay. After the adult insects hatch, place them in a container.

4. Feeding management

The main food source of cicadas is leaves, especially the leaves of some fruit trees, which can promote the growth and development of cicadas very well. Therefore, farmers need to pay attention to choosing appropriate feed and keep the feed fresh. In addition, adding appropriate amounts of vitamins and minerals can also contribute to the healthy growth of cicadas.

5. Breeding environment

Choose materials with good air permeability and insulation to maintain appropriate ventilation and humidity. At the same time, regular cleaning of breeding equipment and replacement of substrate can also help prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests. In addition, regularly observe the health of cicadas and take appropriate measures in time to prevent the spread of diseases.
