How long is the growth cycle of a banana?

Introduction to Banana Growth

Bananas generally grow in warm and dry areas. They are widely distributed in hot areas of my country such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, etc., and are cultivated in small quantities in Sichuan, Chongqing and other areas.

Banana growth cycle

Bananas prefer a hot and humid environment, and grow vigorously in soil with deep, loose, good ventilation, and rich in organic matter.

The banana growing cycle is about 9 to 11 months.

Banana growth rate

The growth process of banana mainly includes seedling stage, growth period, flower bud differentiation period and fruit ripening period. It can bloom and bear fruit all year round and grows and develops quickly.

The first banana harvest takes a little longer, about 10-15 months, and about 6 months from the emergence of banana buds to the harvesting of bananas.

Banana Growth Cycle Management

The banana yield per acre is usually around 2,500 kilograms. If the bananas are well maintained and the varieties are excellent, the yield will be higher.

Based on the ripening characteristics of bananas, they can generally be divided into the budding stage, the vegetative growth stage, the reproductive stage, and the ripening stage. Each stage will affect the growth of the next stage, so each stage cannot be ignored and needs to be managed carefully.

Temperature management: The annual average temperature of bananas needs to be above 21°C. They prefer a hot and humid environment. The suitable ambient temperature is between 20 and 35 degrees. The temperature cannot be lower than 15.5 degrees. Their cold resistance is relatively weak, so they need to take measures to keep warm in winter.

Fertilization management: Banana fertilization must not be blind. It should be applied reasonably at different stages. Pay attention to applying thin fertilizers frequently during the seedling stage, and you can use decomposed manure water to water the banana heads. The fertilizer requirement increases in the middle period, and compound fertilizer should be applied once every 10 days. The fertilizer requirement is the highest during the bud formation period, and you can apply urea, potassium chloride, and peanut bran. After the buds emerge, you can apply ternary compound fertilizer.
