Sweet potato planting conditions

Sweet potatoes prefer warm environments and are not cold-resistant. The suitable growth temperature is between 22 and 30 degrees. They are usually planted in spring and summer, when planting is more conducive to plant growth. Sweet potatoes are short-day plants and are not shade-tolerant. They are suitable for growing in sunny places. Sweet potatoes are mainly produced in Liuao Peninsula, Zhangpu County, Fujian Province.

Sweet potato planting time

Sweet potatoes are generally planted in April and May in the north, while in March and April in the south and September and October in the autumn. It is best to plant them in the spring because there is relatively abundant rainfall, which is helpful for seedling cultivation.

Benefits of Sweet Potato Planting

Assuming there are 5,000 kilograms of sweet potatoes at one yuan per kilogram, the profit is 5,000 yuan. After deducting the 30 yuan cost of purchasing potato seeds, there is 4,800 yuan left. If the 4,000 yuan in labor costs and 240 yuan in pesticides are saved, the production cost of one acre of sweet potato field is 560 yuan, and the profit of sweet potatoes is about 4,440 yuan.
