Can cherry trees be grown in Guangxi?

Cherries can be grown in Guangxi. Cherries grow on sunny hillsides or beside ditches. They are suitable for growing in areas with an altitude of 300-600 meters, an annual precipitation of 600-700mm, and an average annual temperature of 10-12℃. Guangxi meets this requirement.

Cherry trees are suitable for growing on sunny hillsides or along ditches at an altitude of 300-800 meters. The distribution range of cherry trees in my country is very wide, from Liaoning Province in the north to Yunnan, Sichuan and Guizhou provinces in the south, and to Gansu and Xinjiang in the west.

Cherry tree planting technology in Guangxi

1. Lighting

Cherry is a light-loving tree species and needs at least 8-12 hours of light a day to grow better. If the light conditions are poor, the branches on the outer edge of the crown will tend to grow too tall, the branches inside the crown will be weak, the life of the fruit branches will be short, the fruiting part will move outward, the flower buds will not develop fully, the fruit set rate will be low, the fruit will mature late, and the quality will be poor.

2. Temperature

Cherry trees can generally be divided into two types according to their taste: sweet cherries and sour cherries. Sweet cherries are suitable for growing in areas where the temperature is below 7.5 degrees Celsius for 1100 to 1300 hours each year, while sour cherries are more suitable for growing in areas where the temperature is below 7.5 degrees Celsius for at least 1200 hours each year.

3. Watering

Cherries need plenty of water during the ripening period to produce plump, juicy flesh. When not in the fruiting period, the soil around the cherry tree should be watered slowly and deeply using a hose or drip irrigation as soon as possible. Wrap drip lines around the trees with thick organic mulch to maintain soil moisture, and irrigate the cherry trees in winter and when the weather is particularly dry and windy.

4. Soil

In Guangxi, cherries are suitable for cultivation on sandy loam with deep soil, loose soil and good ventilation. If cultivated on poorly drained, heavy and compacted soil, the trees will grow weakly and the root system will be shallow. Therefore, be careful not to use heavy clay soil when planting. Cherries cannot be cultivated in saline-alkali land. The most suitable soil pH for growing cherries is PH5.6-7.0.
