Spring Feather Repotting Methods and Precautions

Spring Feather Repotting Methods and Precautions

Spring fern repotting time

It is best to repot the plant once every two years in the spring. Of course, the specific time depends on the growth of the plant, but the general time for repotting is as follows.

How to repot spring fern

In order to ensure the comprehensive absorption of water and nutrients, old roots, diseased roots, dead roots, weak roots, rotten roots, and overly long roots need to be cut off when repotting. Poorly growing or curled roots can also be properly pruned, which is also conducive to the germination of new roots. When disinfecting, it is best to use medical eye ointment or sulfa ointment to effectively prevent bacterial infection. In addition, spring fern is afraid of water accumulation, so you should put some broken tiles or gravel at the bottom of the pot when repotting it.

Spring fern repotting management

illumination

After repotting, place the pot in a cool place first to reduce evaporation from the leaves. After a few days, slowly expose it to light. After it has fully adapted, place it in a sunny place.

Moisture

After repotting, be sure to maintain adequate water supply to keep the soil in close contact with the roots, but don't water too much afterwards, because many roots will be damaged during repotting and their ability to absorb water will decrease. Too much water may cause the injured roots to rot. As new roots grow, you can slowly increase watering.

Combining spring fern repotting and pruning

When repotting the spring fern, you can combine it with appropriate pruning to cut off diseased, weak and redundant branches to promote the growth of new and strong branches.

That’s all about repotting spring fern. I hope it will be helpful to you.
