Is pomegranate high in yield?

The yield of pomegranate is very high. It usually starts to bear fruit 3-4 years after planting and enters the peak fruit-bearing period 6-7 years later. The yield per mu in the peak fruit-bearing period can reach 3,000-5,000 kilograms, but the most critical factor still depends on the management level of the plants.

How to grow pomegranates for high yield

1. Select high-quality varieties

There are many varieties of pomegranate, which can be divided into three categories: sweet, sour, and sweet and sour. Generally, sweet pomegranates are cultivated as the main type. The varieties to choose from include Dahongpao, Baipitian, Qingpitian, etc.

2. Cultivate strong seedlings

In early April, soak the pomegranate cuttings in clean water for about 24 hours to allow the cuttings to fully absorb water, then insert them into the prepared bed, and fertilize and water them in time according to the growth conditions of the seedlings.

3. Improve soil

Before planting, the soil should be deeply plowed and the holes should be enlarged, and sufficient organic fertilizer should be applied. If planted in patches, the plant spacing should be 3*5 meters.

4. Plastic and pruning

Pomegranates need to be shaped and pruned after they reach a certain stage of growth. It is best to adopt a natural cluster-like tree shape. After the plant has grown naturally for 2-3 years, the angle can be stretched to 55° and it can be basically shaped.
