How to divide the money tree

Money tree division time

Money tree is a perennial evergreen plant with underground tubers and no main stem above ground. The warm weather in spring is suitable for the growth of money tree. This time is also more suitable for division propagation. Division can generally be carried out in April.

Money tree division propagation method

Remove the well-growing money tree plants from the pots, shake off the soil at the roots, and break them apart at the weak points of the tubers. Apply sulfur powder or wood ash to the wounds before planting.

Steps to divide money tree

In spring in April, when the outdoor temperature is higher than 18 degrees, remove the large money tree plant from the pot, shake off the old soil at the roots, break up the weak joints of the tubers, then apply sulfur powder or wood ash to the wounds for disinfection, and plant it in a new pot. Be careful to control the depth when planting, and do not bury it too deep. The top of the tuber should be buried 1.5 to 2 centimeters under the soil.

In addition, the tubers of the money tree have latent buds, so the strong and thick single tubers can be separated into 2-3 small pieces with latent buds, placed in a ventilated place to dry, and then planted in slightly moist fine sand. Wait until it grows into an independent plant before planting it in a pot.

I just bought a money tree division

Money tree likes light and has strong shade tolerance. It needs to be provided with bright diffuse light for maintenance. It cannot be exposed to strong light, nor can it be kept in a dark place. The light intensity in summer is relatively high, so it needs to be shaded in time, otherwise the newly sprouted young leaves will be burned.
