The growth environment and local conditions of the sycamore

The growth environment and conditions of the Chinese parasol tree

The sycamore tree prefers a warm, humid, sunny environment. It is not cold-resistant and grows in fertile, moist, deep and well-drained soil. It is native to China and Japan, and is especially widely cultivated in North China, South China and Southwest China, mostly in the Yangtze River Basin.

Sycamore Growing Conditions

The sycamore tree prefers an environment with plenty of sunshine, warm and humid environment. It is not very cold-resistant and is best planted in fertile, moist, deep and well-drained soil. It has strong adaptability to soil and can also grow on acidic, neutral and calcareous soils. However, it is not tolerant to waterlogging and salinity. It is often distributed in plains, hills and ravines. It has weak germination ability and is generally not suitable for pruning.

Sycamore growth temperature

The sycamore likes a warm environment and is not cold-resistant in winter. The suitable growth temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees. Too large a temperature difference will cause slow growth.

Growth characteristics of sycamore

The growth rate of the paulownia tree is relatively fast, but it is not resistant to frost damage. It has fleshy roots and cannot tolerate watery and humid environments. It is afraid of viral diseases and giant bag moths. Its root system is thick and shallow and cannot tolerate strong winds. The paulownia tree is easy to cultivate and simple to manage. It does not require frequent watering and can still grow lush branches and leaves and provide thick green shade.

When and how to plant sycamore

The sycamore tree is usually sown in spring, and the seeds are harvested after the fruits ripen in autumn. They are then buried in the sand and sown in the spring of the following year. When sowing, the row spacing needs to be controlled at about 25 cm, and the soil thickness should be about 1.5 cm. It will germinate in about 30 days after sowing, and the seedlings can be transplanted when they grow to a certain height.
