Ye Xian Introduction

Leaf fairy, also known as Qilin palm, fairy wood vine, fairy vine, wood Qilin, leaf cactus, etc., is a plant of the genus Opuntia, family Leaf cactus. It is cultivated in Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Taiwan, Zhejiang and southern Jiangsu in my country. It is easy to survive by cuttings and can be carried out all year round.

How to cultivate leaf fairy

Yexian is relatively drought-resistant and generally grows in semi-desert areas. It has strong adaptability to the environment and is relatively cold-resistant, heat-resistant, and barren-resistant. It grows most vigorously above 10 degrees and 25 degrees. It is not afraid of strong sunlight and is not strict about the soil. It is barren-resistant, but requires sandy soil with good drainage and air permeability.

Watering method

The leaf fairy has a certain degree of drought resistance but is not tolerant to waterlogging. Therefore, watering should not be excessive and water accumulation should not occur. Generally, it is sufficient to keep the soil slightly moist. If the air is dry, you can spray water appropriately.

Fertilization method

Leaf fairy has certain requirements for fertilizer, but it only needs to be applied once a month. Animal manure, other compound fertilizers, etc. can be used. Pay attention to the principle of frequent and thin application of fertilizers.

Pruning methods

The growth rate of leaf fairy is very fast, so timely pruning is very important. Otherwise, the branches will grow lush and messy, which will reduce the ornamental value and consume more nutrients. Therefore, the dense and messy branches should be cut off regularly, and you can also prune according to your own requirements for the shape.

Precautions for cultivation of leaf fairy

1. Temperature: Leaf fairy likes a warm environment and maintains a certain temperature. Pay attention in winter that it is best not to be lower than five degrees. It is best to keep it indoors to avoid frostbite.

2. Light: The leaf fairy cannot tolerate direct sunlight. It is enough to provide scattered light at ordinary times. It should not be too strong. Appropriate shading measures need to be taken in summer.

3. Changing the soil: After a certain period of time of care for the leaf fairy, the nutrients in the soil will decrease, and the soil needs to be changed regularly, preferably once every one or two years. If the flower soil has lumps during cultivation, the soil should be loosened appropriately.
