Cultivation method of Northeast Forsythia

Cultivation method of Northeast Forsythia

1. Soil:

Forsythia suspensa has a strong adaptability to soil and can survive in most soils. It is best cultivated in slightly acidic or alkaline loam with a deep soil layer, fertile and loose soil.

2. Lighting:

Northeast Forsythia is light-loving and needs sufficient light during its growth period to promote plant growth. If the plant receives too little light, it will grow slowly and be difficult to survive.

3. Watering:

The demand for water of Forsythia suspensa is not too strong, just keep the soil moist. Increase watering frequency during hot and dry periods, and pay attention to drainage during the rainy season to prevent root rot.

4. Temperature:

Forsythia suspensa is cold-resistant and drought-resistant. It can withstand temperatures as low as -14.5℃ and as high as 39.4℃. The most suitable cultivation temperature is 12.1-17.3℃.

5. Notes:

1. Diseases:

The main disease of Forsythia suspensa is leaf spot. They will harm the leaves of Forsythia suspensa and in severe cases may cause the death of the plant. If the disease is found, spray 800 times diluted 50% carbendazim wettable granules for prevention and control.

2. Pests:

The main pathogens of Forsythia suspensa in Northeast China are white-shielded scale insect and broad-winged wax cicada. If you encounter insect pests, you can use imidacloprid wettable granular solution to spray for prevention and control. If the plants are severely damaged, they should be destroyed immediately.
