Torch Flower Cultivation Method

Torch flower is a plant of the Liliaceae family, a perennial herb. The main methods of reproduction are division and sowing.

Torch flower has strong adaptability and is cold-resistant. Some varieties can withstand temperatures as low as minus 20℃. The above-ground parts wither in winter in North China, but the underground rhizomes can overwinter in the open. It likes a warm and sunny environment and is suitable for planting in humus-rich, well-drained loam. It avoids rain and waterlogging, and the temperature should be kept above 5℃ in winter.

Watering method

Torch Flower likes a humid environment. If it is not watered in time, it will grow slowly. However, if it is watered too much, the roots will rot. Therefore, it is generally sufficient to keep the soil slightly moist. Control watering in winter and keep the soil slightly dry so that it can survive the winter better.

Fertilization method

After the torch flower grows flower stems, apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate once every 7-15 days at a concentration of 0.1%, or use superphosphate as a topdressing fertilizer on the soil at a concentration of 2%, which can increase the hardness of the flower stems.

Pruning methods

After the torch flower fades, the remaining flowers and branches need to be pruned in time to prevent it from bearing fruit, so as to avoid the gradual loss of nutrients. This can also promote the next flowering.

Things to note when growing torch flowers

Torch flower is easily infected by rust, which will seriously harm the growth of leaves and flower stems. It needs to be removed and sprayed in time. In addition, management should be strengthened to provide an environment conducive to growth. In order to make its flowers more abundant and colorful, sufficient organic fertilizer should be applied before planting, and some superphosphate or bone meal can also be added.
