What are the cultivation methods and precautions of golden osmanthus

Cultivation method of golden osmanthus

Golden Osmanthus is a plant of the genus Osmanthus in the family Oleaceae. There are many ways to propagate Golden Osmanthus, including branch pressing, layering, sowing, grafting, and cuttings.

Golden osmanthus generally grows in subtropical climate areas and prefers warm and humid environments. The average temperature in the planting area is 14-28 degrees. It likes a sunny environment and needs 6-8 hours of light a day. Strong sunlight and shade are not conducive to its growth.

Golden osmanthus is suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained acidic soil. Water as little as possible before new shoots grow out, just keep the soil moist. Apply thin fertilizers frequently during the growing period, but the amount of fertilizer should be small each time. Give it sufficient light, and it is best to maintain 15-28℃.

Watering method

Osmanthus fragrans likes moisture. It has a greater demand for water one month after planting and in summer. It needs to be watered frequently and thoroughly each time, and the humidity of the air needs to be controlled. However, it is also not tolerant to waterlogging, so just water it thoroughly and avoid water accumulation.

Fertilization method

Golden osmanthus needs to supplement fertilizer according to the principle of "small amounts of fertilizer and frequent application". Nitrogen fertilizer is mainly used during the growth period. Before winter, some inorganic fertilizer is also needed to enhance its resistance to cold.

Pruning methods

When the golden osmanthus sprouts, peel off the useless buds. During the growth period, some of the too dense branches need to be cut off to increase light transmittance. The overgrown branches also need to be shortened to control its overall height.

Precautions for breeding golden osmanthus

1. If you don't change the pot and soil for the golden osmanthus for a long time, it will not have enough nutrition and the roots will not be able to stretch out, which will affect the growth of the flowers, so you need to change the pot every one to two years.

2. Golden osmanthus does not like smoke and needs a clean maintenance environment. If it grows in a place with poor air quality, it will not grow well, its leaves will become smaller and fall off easily, and it will not grow flowers or the number will be very small.
