What fertilizer to use for Chinese cabbage

The base fertilizer for cabbage is mainly organic fertilizer. 4000-5000 kg of fully fermented organic fertilizer is used per mu. Chemical fertilizers are also used, such as 60 catties of superphosphate fertilizer and 40 kg of potassium sulfate.

The basis for obtaining a good harvest of Chinese cabbage is to apply sufficient organic fertilizer. Generally, the soil fertility of old vegetable fields is higher, so the application of organic fertilizer should be appropriate. However, the soil fertility of new vegetable fields is not high, so it is particularly important to apply a mixture of organic fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer as base fertilizer.

Generally, after the cotyledons of Chinese cabbage grow out, the taproot has reached about 10 cm. At this time, it has the ability to absorb water and fertilizer. If the base fertilizer is insufficient or no seed fertilizer is applied, apply a small amount of seedling fertilizer and new lipid film to promote growth.

How to fertilize Chinese cabbage

Fertilizers for cabbage should be applied early and deeply, which can improve nitrogen utilization rate, avoid fertilizer volatilization, facilitate rapid plant growth, and prolong fertilizer effectiveness. When fertilizing, ammonium nitrogen should be applied to the soil layer below 6 cm, and urea should be applied to the soil layer below 10 cm. Biological nitrogen fertilizers should be applied in combination, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be increased. The vegetable cultivation season and climatic conditions should be considered.

In winter, Chinese cabbage is mainly fertilized with base fertilizer, and topdressing with nitrogen fertilizer. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium should be reasonably combined, and trace elements should be appropriately supplemented. Topdressing should be strengthened after the rosette stage, and topdressing should be added once during the carpel stage. Do not apply nitrogen fertilizer 2 weeks before harvest.

Points to note when fertilizing Chinese cabbage

1. The base fertilizer is mainly composed of decomposed farmyard manure, supplemented by urea. One acre of land requires about 2,700 kg of farmyard organic fertilizer, 5 kg of urea, 7 kg of potassium sulfate, and 15 kg of diammonium phosphate.

2. After the rosette stage, Chinese cabbage enters the growth stage. At this time, 7kg of urea and 5kg of potassium sulfate can be applied per mu, and watering can be combined to meet the growth needs of Chinese cabbage.

3. Chinese cabbage has a short growing period and easily absorbs nitrate nitrogen fertilizer. If excessive nitrate ammonia fertilizer is applied, the nitrate content in the vegetables will exceed the standard. If people consume cabbage with excessive nitrate content for a long time, it will cause cumulative poisoning.
