How to raise zebra dieffenbachia

How to raise zebra dieffenbachia

1. Maintenance methods

1. Substrate selection: It is not very demanding on soil quality, and ordinary garden soil can be used. If conditions permit, it is best to choose sandy loam with good air permeability and loose soil.

2. Light management: It likes a shady and humid environment and is afraid of direct sunlight, so it is more suitable to be grown in a semi-shaded position. The light is strong in summer and autumn, which can easily burn its leaves, so shade and sun protection measures need to be taken. For daily maintenance, just place it in a well-lit room. There is no need to move it to an open air environment to bask in the sun.

3. Water management: In the summer when the temperature is relatively high, it is necessary to strengthen the irrigation of the plants. It is best to water them once in the morning and evening every day. You can also spray water around them appropriately to increase the humidity of the potting soil and the environment. In spring and autumn, it is better to water the plants when the soil is dry and water them when the soil is wet. In winter, watering should be reduced to prevent root rot or frostbite.

4. Temperature management: It likes warmth and has relatively poor cold resistance. It grows well under temperatures of 20℃-28℃. The room temperature should be kept above 8℃ in winter. If the temperature is low, appropriate cold-resistant measures should be taken to avoid death of the plant due to frostbite.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction method: It can be propagated by sowing or division, among which division is more common. Division is usually carried out between February and March, dividing it into several plants with roots, which can then be planted separately.

2. Repotting method: Repotting is best done in spring every year, and the diameter of the flowerpot can be selected according to the size of the plant.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Yellowing leaves: It is very afraid of direct sunlight. If the leaves are exposed to strong light for a short period of time, they will turn yellow or even burn. At the same time, lack of water will also cause the leaves to wilt. Pay attention to shade and provide sufficient water.

2. Frostbite: It has poor cold resistance and should be avoided from cold and frost. It will suffer frostbite or even death in an environment close to 0℃. If the temperature in winter is below 10℃, watering should be reduced, the soil in the pot should be kept dry, and appropriate warming measures should be taken to help it survive the winter.

IV. Other issues

1. Placement: Its leaves have clear patterns, dark green color, high gloss, dignified and elegant appearance, excellent ornamental effect and simple maintenance. It can survive for a long time without too much care, and is very suitable for indoor cultivation as a green decorative potted plant.

2. Toxicity: The juice of its leaves is poisonous and very toxic. It can make people mute. When growing it at home, you must be careful to prevent children and pets from accidentally ingesting it.
