Nutritional value of dates

Dates have a crisp texture and sweet taste. Generally, the sugar content in sun-dried or oven-dried dates is relatively high. Usually, dates can be eaten raw or used to make porridge, stew or steamed. They taste best when cooked.

Dates are green when they are immature, and turn red when they are ripe. Eating a moderate amount of dates every day generally has the effect of nourishing qi and blood and relieving cold hands and feet. It also has the effect of calming the nerves and promoting sleep.

Jujube Origin and Planting

Jujubes are grown in a wide area, and the main producing areas are generally in Northeast China, Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, Ningxia and Xinjiang. Among them, the dates produced in Shanxi and Xinjiang are the best and taste very sweet.

It is generally best to plant dates in February and March in spring, because the survival rate of seeds will be relatively high in this season. Dates have good resistance to adversity and are well adaptable to soil. They can generally be planted in loose and deep soil.
