How to propagate Aloe vera

Division propagation is the main propagation method of Aloe vera, and cutting propagation is also a commonly used method of aloe propagation. Its seeds can be propagated, and its natural reproduction method is sowing propagation. Generally speaking, leaf cuttings are the fastest way to propagate Aloe vera.

Aloe vera breeding time

It is generally more appropriate to breed Aloe vera in March-April in spring and September-November in autumn and winter. The survival rate is relatively high in these two time periods.

How to propagate Aloe vera

Propagation by division

The propagation of Aloe vera by division can generally be carried out in spring from April to May each year in conjunction with repotting. Cut the young plants that sprout from the base of the mother plant. If the young plants have roots, they can be planted directly. If they have no roots, the young plants need to be cut into sand beds first, and then transplanted after they have taken root.

Bolu cutting propagation

The cutting propagation of Aloe vera is generally carried out in May and June. Cut the stem with 2-3 leaves, bury it in plain sand after drying, spray water appropriately to keep the environment moist, and it will heal and take root in about 25-30 days.

Bolu seed propagation

After harvesting the aloe vera seeds, clean them and sow them directly into the prepared soil. Take proper care of them and transplant them into the nutrient holes after 1-2 true leaves grow.

Propagation by leaf cuttings

Cut the leaves of Aloe vera from the root, making sure the cut is even. Then let it sit for half an hour until the wound is dry. Prepare a small plastic basin, mix plant ash, vermiculite and garden soil, insert the cut leaves of Aloe vera into it, and sprinkle a little water to keep the surface moist.

Aloe vera propagation precautions

After propagating Aloe vera by leaf cuttings, place it in a ventilated and diffused light place. It will take root in about 10 days. At this time, you can take it to a sunny place. Pay attention to watering it properly. Water it every three days in summer. Be careful not to accumulate water. Water it once a week in spring and autumn.
