How to propagate sunflowers and what to pay attention to

How to propagate sunflowers

There are three ways to propagate sunflowers: sowing, division and cutting. The survival rate of all three methods is relatively high, and the growth rate is not slow, but suitable temperature is required during maintenance.

Sunflower seed propagation

Sunflowers can be propagated, and they need sufficient water during maintenance so that they can grow better. Sunflowers naturally reproduce by seed propagation, and a suitable temperature environment needs to be maintained during maintenance.

Sunflower breeding time

Sunflowers are generally planted between May and August, so that the survival rate will be higher, because this time is the stage of vigorous growth of the plant, and the cut cuttings have strong germination ability and are easier to root.

How to propagate sunflowers

Propagation of sunflower by division

For the propagation of sunflowers by division, you need to select well-grown plants, divide them into small bags, and keep the row spacing at 30 cm. The distance between planting plants needs to be seven to ten centimeters.

Sunflower cutting propagation

When propagating sunflowers by cuttings, double petals are generally used. Cuttings are carried out in the summer. Cut branches can be used, and wilted stems can also be used. After they come alive, they will have flower buds.

Sunflower sowing propagation

When propagating sunflowers by sowing, the method usually adopted is to sow them on the seedling tray and slightly cover them with fine vermiculite, or to press them slightly tightly after sowing the seeds to ensure sufficient moisture.

Sunflower breeding precautions

When propagating sunflowers, you need to pay attention to the fact that they need sufficient sunlight during maintenance, and do not need shade in summer. The temperature must be kept between 26-29 degrees, otherwise they will stop growing.
