Konjac Growth Environment Conditions and Characteristics

Konjac Growth Environment Conditions and Requirements

Konjac is a tropical organism, generally distributed widely in mountainous areas and basins in southern my country. It has a long history of cultivation. Generally, konjac prefers to grow in a warm and humid environment and is not suitable for growing in hot and dry places.

Konjac Growth Temperature

Konjac likes a warm environment, and the optimum temperature for its growth is around 22-30 degrees. The average annual temperature of the general maintenance environment can be around 15 degrees. Konjac is not very cold-resistant and is afraid of freezing. When the general environmental temperature is below 12 degrees, its growth will be affected.

Konjac growth humidity

Konjac likes a humid environment and has a relatively large demand for water during its growth period, so the soil needs to be watered thoroughly when watering during the growth and maintenance period. If the soil is not very dry, the amount of water can be reduced a little each time it is watered.

Konjac growing soil

Konjac is generally more suitable for planting in neutral or slightly alkaline sandy soil that is deep, loose, well-drained and breathable, and rich in organic matter, because this kind of soil will not become compacted, allowing the roots of konjac to grow and breathe well.

Konjac growth cycle and process

The growth cycle of konjac is generally about 5 years. It is usually planted around Qingming Festival in spring. The growth time of konjac in different regions is different. In most cases, the growth time of the stems and leaves of konjac is about 6 months, and the growth time of the tubers is about 7 months.
