The Venus flytrap is native to North America, where it grows in grassland wetlands. The soil of its origin is peat and silica sand, and its water replenishment is mainly from rainwater. It prefers a warm, humid, well-lit growing environment and is not very demanding on the soil.

Venus flytrap growth temperature

The Venus flytrap is also called the insectivorous plant and pitcher plant. The most suitable growth temperature for it is around 20-30℃. The plant hibernates in winter and has poor cold resistance. The maintenance temperature cannot be lower than 5℃.

Venus flytrap growth humidity

The Venus flytrap prefers a humid growing environment and requires the air humidity to be above 50%, but not more than 90%. If it lives in a high humidity environment, it will be easily infected by pests and diseases.

Venus flytrap growing soil

The Venus flytrap likes loose, breathable, fertile, slightly acidic soil with a pH value preferably between 3-5. It can be prepared with peat soil, perlite, and sphagnum moss. Do not use soil that is too sticky.

Venus flytrap growth cycle and process

The Venus flytrap is a perennial herb with a growth cycle of about 4-5 years. The plant grows new leaves in the spring and soon begins to bloom, growing flower stalks about 15 cm long and blooming a flower every other day. The fruit will mature a few weeks after the flowers fade.
