How to grow Schefflera chinensis in winter

How to grow Schefflera chinensis in winter

1. Reduce watering

Although it likes a humid environment, the temperature is low in winter, the plant's growth rate slows down, and it requires less water. Therefore, you must reduce watering. If the plant stays in a humid environment for a long time, the roots will easily rot, which will affect its growth and development. At this time, watering once every half a month is usually enough to meet the needs. It is best to keep the soil slightly dry, which is beneficial for wintering.

2. Sufficient light

It likes a semi-shady growing environment and should be placed in a cool place in summer, while the light is very soft in winter and should be placed in a place with bright light. It is best to do it on a balcony or windowsill indoors, which can ensure the temperature and get more sunlight. Such an environment can ensure normal growth and is not prone to frostbite.

3. Suitable temperature

It is native to tropical regions and is not cold-resistant. The temperature in winter is generally lower, so it must be moved indoors for management after the temperature drops. If there is no heating in the room and the temperature cannot be controlled well, it is recommended to put on a plastic bag, poke a few holes in it for ventilation to avoid frostbite. If there is heating in the room, stay away from the heating equipment, otherwise you may get burned.

4. Stop Fertilizer Treatment

Its growth rate is very slow in winter, and the nutrients contained in the soil can generally meet the needs, so it is recommended to stop fertilizing. If fertilizer is applied indiscriminately, it will easily lead to soil hardening, cause fertilizer damage and affect growth.
