How to improve the germination rate of amaranth seeds ?

1. Seed selection

Select amaranth seeds that are full, large and round, and free of pests and diseases.

2. Soil conditions

Choose fertile, well-drained soil with a pH between 6.0-7.0 for planting. Loose and fertile soil helps seeds germinate and grow.

3. Seed soaking and germination

Soak amaranth seeds in cold water for 24 hours. Rub them several times during the soaking process to facilitate water absorption. After taking out the seeds, drain the water, then find a piece of clean gauze and wrap the seeds. Cover them with a damp towel and adjust the room temperature to 20-25℃ for germination. (1) Temperature: Amaranth seeds germinate best in a temperature range of 15-25°C. In cold regions, insulation measures should be taken, such as using greenhouses or covering with plastic film, to maintain a suitable soil temperature.

(2) Humidity: Keeping the soil moist is the key to seed germination. After sowing, water regularly to keep the soil moderately moist, but avoid excessive watering that causes waterlogging or soil compaction.

(3) Light: Amaranth is a light-loving plant. Adequate light is conducive to seed germination and growth. In areas or seasons with insufficient light, artificial lighting measures can be used.
