Cultivation methods and precautions for potted bougainvillea

1. Soil

It is recommended to use loose, nutritious, well-drained slightly acidic loam as the potting soil. If you use heavy clay loam, it will grow better.

2. Lighting

It likes sunlight very much. There must be sufficient sunlight in winter, and proper shading is required when the sunlight is strong in summer. If there is not enough sunlight, it will directly affect its flowering.

3. Temperature

It is not cold-resistant and easily frostbitten. The growth environment must not be lower than 10℃ during maintenance. If you want it to survive the winter safely, the temperature must be kept above 3℃, and the flowering temperature must reach 15℃.

4. Watering

It needs a warm environment to grow, it likes water but is very afraid of waterlogging. You should pay attention to not having water accumulation in the pot on a daily basis.

5. Fertilization

It prefers fertilizer. It is recommended to apply thin fertilizer every 5-7 days. Flower fertilizer is mainly phosphorus fertilizer. Apply thin fertilizer before flowering. No fertilizer is needed during flowering. Apply thick fertilizer after flowering.

6. Notes

Bougainvillea is not cold-resistant and can easily freeze to death, so you must pay attention to temperature changes. Generally speaking, 5℃ is more dangerous, and the lowest temperature it can tolerate in the south in winter is only 3℃.
