Phalaenopsis cultivation methods and precautions

Phalaenopsis cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

It is recommended to use loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil or humus soil as the potting soil.

2. Lighting

It needs shade in the summer, and appropriate shade in the spring and autumn. It can be placed directly in the sun after October.

3. Temperature

It likes a warm climate, with a suitable temperature of 15-25℃. It will stop growing when the temperature is below 10℃, and a long period of time below 5℃ will cause the plant to die.

4. Watering

Water once a day in spring and summer. If the humidity at home is not enough, you can spray it regularly, 2-3 times a day. In autumn and winter, you can water it once every 2-5 days to keep the soil in the pot moist. When the temperature drops below 15℃, there is no need to water it.

5. Fertilization

Its requirements for fertilizer are not high. Fertilizer should be applied every 5-7 days during the growing season and once every 20-30 days at other times. No fertilizer is needed when the temperature is below 15℃ in winter.

6. Notes

Phalaenopsis may suffer from soft rot, brown spot, viral diseases, etc. We can usually spray diluted medicine, or we can prevent diseases by improving ventilation conditions, controlling temperature in summer, and preventing cold in winter. At the same time, it may also attract scale insects, red spiders, and snails. At this time, you can spray pesticides or sprinkle lime powder around the flower pots.
