How to Grow Agave

How to Grow Agave

1. Planting time

As for agave, it can be planted in the ground or in pots. For these two methods, the planting method is different. However, the best time is generally in summer.

2. How to plant in the ground

1. Choose a suitable location: It is best to choose a place with sandy loam. Moreover, the planting location should be sheltered from the wind, facing the sun, and the terrain should be higher.

2. Planting: After choosing a location, you need to dig a hole first, with a diameter of about 60 cm and a depth of about 60 cm. Plant one plant in each hole. After planting, cover the roots with some soil and then water them thoroughly.

3. How to plant potted plants

1. Flower pots and substrate: It is best to use larger flower pots, which is beneficial to the future growth of the plant. Generally speaking, the parts after division can be planted in pots. The substrate can be prepared by yourself by mixing leaf mold, garden soil and sand in a ratio of one to four to three. Then, some base fertilizer, such as horseshoe slices, should be put at the bottom of the flower pot.

2. Planting: Fill in a part of the substrate, then put the plant in and straighten it. Then add a portion of the matrix and press it down. After finishing, water it to moisten it. Don't water it right away. Wait three or four days before watering it. This will help it to grow slowly. Provide appropriate shade first, and then provide appropriate diffuse light after two to three days.
