How to grow camellia

How to grow camellia

1. Breeding methods

1. Soil: Camellia requires soft soil with sufficient nutrients and good drainage. It is best to have sufficient humus content, but it cannot be too loose. Its root system requires the soil to have a certain viscosity.

2. Light: The light requirements of camellia vary with the seasons during maintenance. Generally speaking, the light requirements in spring, autumn and winter are relatively sufficient, which is conducive to the differentiation and flowering of flower buds. In summer, pay attention to shading from the sun to prevent leaf burns.

3. Temperature: In many areas in the north, the temperature in winter is below zero, but too low a temperature will affect the normal growth of camellia, so you can move the camellia indoors in winter, as long as the growth environment of the camellia is above 5 degrees. Be careful not to place camellia next to the heater, as it is not conducive to its growth.

4. Water: This plant likes water and requires the soil in the pot to be kept slightly moist, but water cannot accumulate. Water accumulation will cause root rot, yellowing leaves, burnt edges and dry tips, and other diseases.

5. Fertilization: It needs to be fertilizered thinly and more frequently. The ratio of water to fertilizer is 7:3. Generally, it is enough once every half a month.

2. Pruning

During the maintenance process, it is necessary to peel the buds and cut off the withered flowers after flowering to promote a better plant shape. This plant does not require frequent pruning when growing. It has a good ability to self-shape, and during the growth process, only the dense branches need to be pruned moderately.
