How to grow round-leaf arrowroot

Breeding temperature

Round-leafed arrowroot prefers a warm and peaceful environment, so it is not heat-resistant, afraid of high temperatures, and has poor cold resistance. The suitable temperature for its growth environment is 18-30℃. In late spring and early summer, when the ambient temperature exceeds 25℃, you should build a shed to provide shade and spray water to create a cool, ventilated, humid and dark environment.

The ambient temperature in winter should not be lower than 10℃. If the room temperature is lower than 5℃, the round-leaf arrowroot will suffer serious frost damage. Generally speaking, at the end of autumn, the arrowroot should be moved indoors to a sunny place for protection and overwintering.

Lighting conditions

The round-leafed arrowroot prefers partial shade and avoids exposure to high temperatures. The leaves must not be severely burned. This causes the leaves to become dull and lifeless, losing their original beauty. Therefore, it should be placed in a greenhouse for supplementary lighting in winter. In daily life, it can be placed indoors as a potted plant for viewing, and should be placed in front of a window with sufficient diffuse light.

Moisture conditions

The round-leafed arrowroot prefers a humid environment, so it should be watered thoroughly once a day during the growing season, and the leaves and the surrounding environment should be sprayed more frequently to maintain a certain degree of moisture and not be too dry. Strictly control watering in winter. Too wet soil in the pot will lead to poor drainage, root rot, and withering of leaves.

When the flowers bloom in spring, the plant will sprout new leaves. Do not water too much when new leaves are sprouting. Instead, gradually increase the amount of watering as the number of new leaves increases, which is beneficial to the healthy growth of the plant.

Soil conditions

Round-leaf arrowroot prefers well-drained, fertile, slightly acidic humus soil. The potting soil should be a mixture of humus soil, fertilizer and river sand.

Fertilization method

During the growing season, apply a thin layer of organic fertilizer once a week to the round-leaf arrowroot. Potted plants are suitable for viewing at home and in public places. When entering the high temperature season of summer, when the temperature is higher than 32℃, fertilizing the round-leaf arrowroot should be stopped. In late autumn and early winter, stop all topdressing, otherwise it will cause root rot of the plants.
