How to grow Lithops to get double

How to grow Lithops to get double

1. How to get a double

If you want to see the phenomenon of double explosion, generally speaking you have to wait at least two years. In two years, it will be mature. At this time it will begin to shed its skin. Afterwards, new sprouts will grow out of the crack in the middle of it, and it will double, turning from a single head to a long head. However, in this process, proper maintenance is needed so that it can explode faster.

2. How to maintain the double

1. Suitable flower pots: When planting, you need to pay attention to the choice of flower pots. In order to allow its roots to have enough space, the flowerpot must first be deep enough. However, given its relatively small size, it does not require a flowerpot with a large diameter. Generally, a flowerpot with a diameter of about eight centimeters and a depth of about ten centimeters will be sufficient. Then there is the material of the flower pot. Clay and tiles are more suitable because they have good air permeability.

2. Suitable substrate: It also has high requirements on the substrate. Choose a breathable, moisturizing and fertile substrate. It can be prepared by mixing Akadama soil, peat soil and river sand in a ratio of 3:4:3.

3. Appropriate amount of fertilizer: Flower fertilizer can promote growth, but don’t apply too much. Generally once a month is enough, and you can use liquid fertilizer or solid fertilizer.

4. Appropriate amount of water: Water once every three days, but do not allow water to accumulate. You can pour it slowly along the edge of the pot until the soil is soaked.

5. Repotting: If you don’t repot for a long time, the soil will easily clump. Therefore, it is necessary to repot the plants regularly, replace the old soil with new one, clean the pots and prune the roots.
