How to grow orchids

How to grow orchids

1. Breeding environment

1. Light: Orchids do not like strong sunlight. Because there are big trees providing shade in their places of origin, they prefer scattered light. Generally speaking, you need to block out about 50 to 60 percent of the light, or even higher.

2. Water: Orchids like moisture, and there must be sufficient humidity in the space where they grow. Seventy to eighty percent humidity is no problem for them, but their roots are fleshy roots, so watering should not be too much or too frequent.

3. Soil: The soil for orchids should be loose, fertile, rich in organic matter, and there is special orchid mud.

4. Fertilization: Orchids do not need large amounts of fertilizer, and require very light fertilizer, so it is best to use special fertilizer for orchids instead of using organic fertilizer to fertilize them, so as to avoid fertilizer damage.

5. Temperature: Orchids like coolness and are afraid of high temperatures and severe cold. Generally speaking, the suitable temperature for its growth is between 10 and 25 degrees. It can tolerate short-term freezing, so in winter it needs to be placed in a room with a temperature of 0 to 10 degrees, and it can survive the winter smoothly.

2. Common pests and diseases

Orchids have relatively few diseases and pests, so we should try to focus on prevention to prevent them from getting sick. We can frequently spray some protective agents, such as carbendazim and methyl thiophanate.

In addition, create a well-ventilated environment with appropriate temperature and humidity to make it grow healthily and enhance its disease resistance. Once the disease occurs, medication should be taken in time to effectively control it in the early stages of the disease.
