How to grow small-leaf gardenia

How to grow small-leaf gardenia

1. Soil

Small-leaf gardenia is an acidic plant, so acidic soil is more suitable for its growth. If you are raising fish in the south, the acidic soil generally will not become alkaline. However, if you are raising fish in the north, the soil will easily become alkaline and harden. Therefore, you should test the pH value of the soil frequently. A value greater than 7 means it is alkaline. If you find that the soil is alkaline, you can mix vinegar or leaf mold into the soil. These things can turn alkaline soil into acidic soil.

2. Temperature

Small-leaf gardenia is a sun-loving plant. It will be more conducive to its growth if it is grown in a sunny place. It is best to ensure that the temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees. Gardenia is not cold-resistant, so in autumn and winter, you need to take measures to keep it warm. Outdoor plants can be placed in a greenhouse, while indoor plants just need to be moved to a warm place.

3. Humidity

The growth habits of small-leaf gardenia have high requirements for water. It must be watered two to three times a week, and its branches and leaves must be sprayed with water in the morning and evening. Don't water too much at one time, because its roots are fleshy roots. Too much water will affect its breathing, nutrient absorption, and cause root rot. Just water the plant in sufficient amounts each time to ensure that there is no water accumulation in the pot.

4. Select a pot

If it is a potted small-leaf gardenia, you can choose a ceramic pot if conditions permit. Ceramic pots have good air permeability and are very suitable for growing this plant which has high requirements for potting soil.
