How to grow dried wintersweet in water to make it bloom

It is very simple to maintain fresh cut wintersweets in water, but if you do the details well, you can greatly extend the shelf life of wintersweets. If you buy dried wintersweets online, you should pay attention to the following 5 points when maintaining them to make them bloom better.

Flower awakening treatment

After a long period of transportation, the fresh cut branches of wintersweet may lack water, so the first thing to do when you get them is to wake up the flowers.

Operation : Cut fresh wintersweet branches and place them in a bucket of water, with the water covering the branches by 1/2-13 and then wake the flowers for 2 hours to replenish moisture.

Sterilization

While the flowers are waking up, you can prepare a beautiful vase, either glass or ceramic.

If it is an old vase, it is best to soak the vase in potassium permanganate for 20 minutes to sterilize it , so as to avoid bacteria infecting the cut edge of the vase after the flowers are placed. If potassium permanganate is not available, vinegar can also be used, diluted 200 times and then soaked .

Proper pruning

After the wintersweet blooms, it should be pruned again and placed in a vase. When pruning, the branches without flower buds and the new branches near the bottom should be cut off to ensure that there are no small branches and flower buds soaked in water after being placed in the vase.

The length of the branches can be trimmed according to the needs of the vase and shape. However, the cut entering the water should be trimmed at a 45-degree angle to increase the water absorption area .

After the wintersweet branches are inserted, they should be placed in a bright location. Avoid direct sunlight or air conditioning outlets. If it is a heated room, it should be placed away from the radiator, because high temperatures can easily cause the wintersweet branches to dehydrate.

Change water at the right time

If the indoor temperature is high, it is recommended to change the water every 2 days. If the temperature is low, you can change the water every 3-4 days. If you use tap water to grow, it is best to put the tap water in the container to dry one day in advance.

Every time you change the water, you should clean the container and trim a new cut at the bottom of the wintersweet branches . This is more conducive to the branches absorbing water. You don't need to cut a lot, just 0.5-1cm long each time.

Use preservatives

In order to keep the fresh cut branches of wintersweet longer, you can add flower preservatives to the water, or add a little sugar and vinegar , which can extend the shelf life of the fresh cut branches of wintersweet.
